The closing conference of LIFE Podkowiec+ project gathered participants from Poland and 7 different European countries.
On April 20th and 21st, those interested in the horseshoe conservation met in Bochnia and Nowy Wiśnicz, to exchange their experience in this field.

First day at morning session, the project LIFE Podkwoiec+ was explained by the project team. In the afternoon, other Polish and European activities have been presented. During the coffee breaks, it was possible to learn about some of the equipment and solutions used in the project at small exhibition.

Second conference day started from the site visit in the beautiful Nowy Wiśnicz castle, inhabited by the lesser horseshoe bats all year round. To make this stay possible and comfortable for bats, there were many adaptations implemented in the castle, improving conditions of light, temperature, access to key parts of the buildings, and safe exit to the surrounding feeding grounds.

The visitors were impressed by creative ideas of the castle museum, including underground bat route, and the Virtual Reality show – travel through the castle with the eyes of a bat.
