Bat life convenience improves. Improvements in several, out of planned 40, bat summer roosts are going on. The buildings hosting Lesser horseshoe, Geoffroy’s and Greater mouse-eared bats’ colonies will be improved, in order to provide better living conditions for these animals.

Optimising of the habitat includes measures to increase safety, reduce lighting and draughts and diversify the microclimate conditions, in particular temperature and humidity. Each site is considered cautiously to prevent any damage to the shelter, that could lead to abandonment of the site. Depending on local situation, appropriate measures has been planned. The work will be done before the bats return to their summer roosts. The measures were planned basing on own long time experience and lessons learned from the UK based Vincent Wildlife Trust. Their influence on the bats will be monitored during Summer months. Recording of temperature, bat numbers and their behaviour will help to adjust the implemented measures to create optimal reproduction conditions for the bats, and in consequence to strengthen the species population.
