At the junction of Nature and Culture seminar for PhD students took place in Niedzica castle, between 9th and 12th June. The seminar was organised by The Artes Liberales Department of the University of Warsaw, under the leadership of Professor Maria Poprzęcka, PhD. Several academics – biologists and humanists, as well as apprentices doing their PhD thesis took part in the seminar.

The participants attended numerous lectures, covering different inter-disciplinary scientific topics. Some examples were Past and the Present of the Zamagurze Spiskie region, by historian, Professor Tadeusz Trajdos from The Polish Academy of Science, Spisz plays with identity by Janusz Barański, PhD in the Institute of Ethnography and Culture Anthropology at the Jagiellonian University. The Niedzica dam tour was led by the Director of the Board in the Niedzica Water Power, engineer Władysław Krakowski. Ms Ewa Jaworowska-Mazur, Director of the Castle Complex, led the group through the Castle Dunajec. The Pieniny National Park headquarters and visitor centre, as well as the church in Grywałd, closed the list.

On Friday evening, 10th June, the floor belonged to the bats. Rafał Szkudlarek, Podkowiec+ coordinator, gave a presentation, and the Promotion Assistant, Piotr Firlej, gave a project promotion show. The bat topics were received with interest.
