In July, the competition results were surprising. The question seems easy, but most of the participants fell into a trap.

We asked which of the bat species protected by the LIFE Podkowiec+ project have the twins regularly.

To give the correct answer one had to first check which bat species are covered by the project and then check for their breeding parameters. The answer Noctule bat cannot be accepted, even though at this species two young is a standard.

The answer should read: None of the three species.

This, along with their specific ecological requirements, is a reasons why these bats are less common than some other species, and why they are protected by EU Habitat Directive.
