Next Sunday, November, 1st, at 16:55 the TVP Polonia channel will broadcast the 9th episode of the Kłosowski brothers series “Dancing with Nature”, under the title “The Divine Horseshoe bat”. It will be repeated on Monday at 5:42 and 11:05 CET.
The series has its own page www.tanczacyznatura.tvp.pl, where besides interesting information, one can watch already broadcasted episodes in full lenght.
The Divine Horseshoe bat announcement from the page:
They lead double life. In Winter, in diabolic depths of caves, in Sumemr in the temple attics. Here, under the God’s eye, they breed. For raising of their young the females need the warm and very quiet roosts. In Middle Europe they usually choose the lofts of the wooden, centuries old churches. Many of these historic buildings are in need of renovation. The works done without special care for little inhabitants, would affect the bat kindergartens. Lack of appropriate attics is one of the reasons for the horseshoe bat decline and threat with extinction.
The LIFE Podkowiec+ project counteracts these threats and its coordinator Rafał Szkudlarek, for years visits the churches in South Poland and helps to find funding for their renovation in a bat friendly way. How the little parishioners thrive in the shrines? We ask the priests. And listne with the ultrasound detectors, whay would be the bats’ answer.
