Śnietnica, village lying on the Biała (White) River, tributary to Dunajec, belongs to the exclusive club of settlements hosting the lesser horseshoe bat colony. Several dozen females with their offspring, makes over a hundred of these bats living in the Greek-catholic tserkov of St Dimitri.
To improve their living conditions, the attic and the tower of the shrine were adapted to diversify the microclimate inside the shelter. The horseshoes need quiet, darkness, proper range of temperatures, some space and access to the roost on the wing. Important outside features are shelter and orientation elements such as trees or shrubs.

In the St. Dimitri temple, the Podkowiec+ team installed baffles near the tower windows, that reduce the incoming light, still leaving easy fly-in possibility. Additionally the light coming in through the numerous gaps between the wooden boards were covered with the tarpaulin. The tarp was also used to screen the attic in half, to stabilize and differentiate the temperature under the roof of the temple. Similar role play the wooden screens in the attic top, that create a warm air bubbles. A small part of the attic was easy to separate from the rest of the inside, and was equipped with the anti-raptor shelf.

The tree planting has also been planned in the surroundings of Śnietnica temple. It is necessary to sustain and recover continuity of the ecological corridors, used by bats to commute between the shelter and the feeding grounds.
