This year’s Milk Cap Feast in Wysowa (1-2 October 2016) welcomed the Land of the Horseshoe Bat. Milk cap (known also as pine mushroom) is a delicacy, gladly picked by Poles.

The LIFE Podkowiec+ project stand, located in front of the Old Resort House was visited by families of tourists, bathers, and local inhabitants.

Piotr Firlej, Promotion Assistant in the LIFE Podkowiec+ project, made a presentation in the amphitheatre, explaining “Why the horseshoe bats do not get entangled in the hair”. After such preparation nobody was afraid to participate in the watch of bat emerge, around the temple in nearby Blechnarka village. The emerging was professionally commented by Rafał Szkudlarek, project coordinator.

Participation of the LIFE Podkowiec+ jn the Milk Cap Feast was organised by one of the participants of the 1st Horseshoe Ambassadors’ Championships, Natalia Pacana-Roman.

And finally, answering the title question: both the mushrooms and bats need healthy forests for their survivals, and such areas are still abundant in the Land of the Horseshoe Bat.
