On the 2nd to 3rd of October 2014 in Podlesice took place the conference opening LIFE+ project “Carrying out necessary conservation work on a territory of Szachownica Cave designated within Natura 2000” no. LIFE12 NAT/PL/000012.
Various lectures about project activities, importance of the cave and problematic threats, were presented on the first day of conference. On the second day the participants attended trip to Głęboka Cave and Historic Silver Mine in Tarnowskie Góry, where they could see methods of underground preservation, similar to those planned in Szachownica Cave. Conference was a field for exchanging information about winter bat roosts conservation, which is one of major activities in Life Podkowiec+ project. During conference there were also distributed a promotional items of Life Podkowiec+ project.
