June is the time of summer bat census. Once a year we check the number of horseshoe bats, greater mouse-eared bats Myotis myotis and Geoffroy’s bats Myotis emarginatus in their summer roosts.
It is also a season when bat pups grow up, so we can also note the reproductive success of colonies. The conditions in many roosts are satisfying and enable colonies to multiply. In order to maintain or improve the existing conditions we also check every changes in the bat shelters and their environments. So the bat census also results in plans of our future conservation actions.
