The conference was divided into three parts: an oral session held in Krościenko, a poster session held in Spiska Stara Wieś and a field session in Palenica and Szafranówka. During each part, attention of the participants was drawn to the actions of the Polish Society of Nature Friends „pro Natura” in the framework of the lesser horseshoe bat conservation project. Ms. Bożena Kotońska of the regional nature conservation authorities stressed the tremendous effort put into the conservation of bats, but also into the conservation of their roosts, usually churches of high cultural heritage value. During the field session one of the discussion panels was dedicated to the Natura 2000 special area of conservation “Podkowce w Szczawnicy”.
Every session gave an opportunity – if not provoked – to confront views and standpoints of different institutions involved in or influenced by the Natura 2000 network.
