Greek-catholic tserkov of the Birth of the Holy Mary in Rozdziele raised in 1786 is nowadays used by the Greek catholic Parish of Rozdziele and Roman catholic Parish of Lipinki. On top of that, the lesser horseshoe bats use – as one may easily guess – the top part of the building.

The LIFE Podkowiec+ project team have made several habitat adaptations here. The already classic solution was the hanging shelter, diversifying thermal conditions and reducing access of predators. Several places liked by bats, have been equipped with stone tiles, offering choice in the surface to hang on.

To reduce draughts and too strong light, several baffles have been placed in critical places.

The entrance to the attic was a square opening in the floor, which had to stay open for the air flow. To prevent bats coming into other parts of the building, special mesh door have been made. As the preferred place of bats is just above these door, special roof have been placed, so the guano would not fall on, or even worse, through the mesh.
