The Lesser horseshoe bat lives in the southern stripe of Poland, with the highest concentration 50 km around Nowy Sącz. Activities related to the Land of the Horseshoe bat concentrate there.
29 Feb – training for the tourist guides was next in a series containing the workshop on bats and on Lesser horseshoe bat in particular. The participants learned about the LIFE PODKOWIEC+ project and the Land of the Horseshoe bat. They will pas this knowledge to their customers, thus multiplying the effect.
6 March – an excursion with the Horseshoe bat visited the just renovated tserkov in Krynica and the school in Wojkowa, both sites being the Lesser horseshoe bat summer roosts. The route shown on the attached map.
7 March – promotional meeting on the Land of the Horseshoe bat and the LIFE Podkowiec+ project in Wróblowice, near Zakliczyn.
13 March – A Lemko Easter Festival in the Zagroda Maziarska (from “maziarz” – ancient profession meaning ‘dealer in tar, wheel grease, or cart grease’) in the Łosie village offered food, handicraft and events related to the Easter tradition. Different workshops were available in the course of the festivity, and the Podkowiec+ stand offered information and various plays related to the project.
