The Sokołowsko Sanatorium, was established 1855 as a worldwide pioneering facility for the treatment of tuberculosis and later other lung problems. Unfortunately the building was burnt down in 2005.
The Modern Arts Foundation InSitu bought the building complex in 2007 turning it into educational centre with some elements of environmental education.
May 28th, the celebrative opening of the first part, raised from the ashes, took place in Sokołowsko. The opening gathered many distinguished guests, many representing key public institutions, such as local and regional administration, representatives of the central government and even of the European Commission.

The EkoWieża (EcoTower) overlooks the complex. Presently, as its name explains by itself, there are exhibitions and environmental activities located in the tower. The InSitu foundation invited PTPP “pro Natura” to place here a presentation on PODKOWIEC+ project and the Horseshoe bat Land, as Sokołowsko lies inside the region inhabited by these bats.
